Japanese designer Oki Sati, alias Nendo, receives the AW award “Designer of the Year 2019“. Congratulation!
I had the honor of designing the new award trophy, made of pure marble, which will be given to outstanding designers from 2019 and beyond.
In 2020 the designer of the year are Yael Mer und Shay Alkalay, studio Raw-Edges with their great design approach of experimental and intuitive use of tools and colors.
With the Italian Piero Lissoni, AW has named the Designer of the Year 2021.

The design of the trophy will also be used for the AW award "Architect of the Year".
In 2019 the honor went to the danish architect Dorte Mandrup.
